How to make chicken momo.
Chicken momos are a type of dumpling that are popular in Nepal, Tibet, and parts of India. To make chicken momos, you will need:
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1/2 cup finely chopped chicken
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
1/4 cup finely chopped cabbage
1/4 cup finely chopped carrots
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
1/4 tsp white pepper
Oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add the water and 2 tbsp of oil, and mix until the dough comes together. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and set it aside to rest for at least 30 minutes.
2. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the chopped chicken, onions, cabbage, carrots, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, and white pepper. Mix well.
3. Divide the dough into small balls, about the size of a golf ball. Roll each ball into a circle about 4 inches in diameter.
4. Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling to form a semi-circle, and press the edges together to seal the momo.
5. Heat a few inches of oil in a large pot or deep fryer over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, carefully add the momos to the pot a few at a time, and fry them until they are golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
6. Remove the momos from the oil with a slotted spoon, and drain them on a paper towel. Serve the momos hot, with your choice of dipping sauce. Enjoy!
